2 Leagues + 1 Dream = Roller Derby Success that’s here to Stay. - Posted on 13 Jun 2011 by NVEast
2 Leagues + 1 Dream = Roller Derby Success that’s here to Stay.

The NV East Roller Girls are pleased to announce the merger with the Boomtown Betty Bashers. Starting June 1 both leagues became one united league with the same dream in common of doing Derby. NV East Roller girls currently have over 60 players and the Boomtown Betty’s have 20 rostered players, this merger will give the town one solid league to stand behind and be proud of. NV East Roller Girls already had 3 teams under their league; the Dixie Wreckers, Silver Street Elite and the Ramahos; adding the Boomtown Betty’s will make it four teams under one league. No more confusion for the fans just lots of derby fun. Many bouts are still planned since derby season does not end until October.

The NV East Roller Girls have had 2 successful bouts already and are getting ready for more. Coming in June at the Motorcycle Jamboree there are lots of derby events are in store for your viewing pleasure. The Boomtown Betty’s are scheduled to bout with an out of town team The Bonneville Bone Crushers from Watsatch Roller Derby at noon at the Igloo. Then the NV East ladies will be holding a bike wash, to help raise money for Relay for Life coming the next weekend.

Family Skate night will still be an event for the league, just with a new name attached and more help and fun available for the kids. This summer there will be skate lessons offered with the Parks and Rec department for the kids. However, the Skate night during the Jamboree will not be hosted by the roller derby league due to the safety of children during the jamboree. Children safety is a key priority for the NV East Roller Girls!

NV East Roller Girls are always in the market for Fresh Meat (aka: New Skaters) and we need lots of volunteers to keep off skate processes running smooth. If you are interested in skating or being a volunteer please contact nveastrollergirls2011@yahoo.com.

NV East Roller girls also are still in the market for a home. Being a non-profit organization with limited funds and large areas needed has made this search pretty impossible. A derby “arena” is roughly 12,000 square feet but those locations are pretty pricey. Our dream is to have a place to hang our skates and be able to donate more money to the community and people in it.

The NV East Roller Girls bout May Mayhem had a special recognition to Deputy Van Natter and donated a portion of its profits to his family as well as, to P.A.C.E Collation. We are looking forward to helping the public with many more community service events to come, like Relay for Life.

The NV East Roller girls would like to add a thank you to all their sponsors: Alpine Sports Medicine; American High Voltage; Dale White Motors; Double Dice RV Bar and Grill; Doug Ielmorini Dairy; Emerald City Skates; Good Time Charlee’s; Hayley’s Gift Shop; J’Ossies; Lostra Brothers Towing; Matties; McKnight chiropractic; Morse Hydraulics; P&H Mine Pro; Paradise Tanning; Performance Athletic; Pops Tattoo; RAM; Rude Chix Clothing; Sherwood Chiropractic; Star Hotel & Restaurant; The Flying Fish; Stockman’s Casino, Subway; The Silver Dollar; Western Folklife Center; Wicked Skatewear; Wild Rose, without their support this all would not be possible. And the NV East Roller Girls look forward to meeting all the Betty’s sponsors who we will be happy to team with.
